We have almost made it to Christmas! In my house the kids are off school, I've finished clinic work for the year and I spent the morning cooking, getting ahead for Christmas Day. We are at home just the 8 of us on Christmas Day and then off to see family.

Whilst Christmas can be full of anticipation and excitement, for those navigating the complexities of an eating disorder, the holiday season can present unique challenges. In this newsletter, I want to extend a heartfelt message of support and hopefully provide some valuable resources to ensure a nourishing and positive experience during this festive time.

This month, I've put together two Christmas blog posts to offer guidance and encouragement. The first, "Help with Caring for Someone with an Eating Disorder at Christmas," addresses the vital role loved ones play in providing support during the holiday season. It gives practical tips that I hope will be super helpful.

The second post, "Tips for Managing an Eating Disorder at Christmas," is to help those on their personal ED journey. From coping strategies to mindful practices, I really hope this blog post will empower you and provide practical tips to use.

Festive Gingerbread

One tradition we have every year is to bake gingerbread. I’ve been doing this with my kids since they were toddlers. It’s gone from 1 toddler to now 6 of them, which was ummmmm interesting chaos.

Hopefully it’s a good memory and it makes lovely gifts for their friends.

150g plain flour
125g butter
1 tsp bicarb of soda
2 tsp ginger
1 tsp cinnamon

Rub these all in together to resemble breadcrumbs.

Mix 4 tbsp golden syrup with 1 egg and optional 150g brown sugar (we did some without the sugar).

Mix the wet into the dry to make a dough. Roll out and cut, then cook for 12-15 mins at 170C fan/190C
